I led a Council circle for high school girls. The circle was initiated by an association for the advancement and empowerment of women, who do social engagement activities at school on a voluntary basis.

The association strongly believes in the circle path, and the director, who also studied the circle path in the past, asked me to come and meet with the girls and show them the circle path.

For example, each person says their name and a good deed they associate with.

Then I asked them, when you hear the word volunteering or volunteering, what comes to mind?

And they began to answer, for example, "to do a good deed." Another person said an Arabic proverb: "The right hand gives and the left hand is unaware of it," meaning that one gives secretly and does not boast about it.

When they come with questions, it allows them to participate, sometimes with a single sentence or word, and then they feel like they are part of the circle and feel comfortable talking about more things.

I asked them what they would like to change at school?

One of the girls brought up an issue that bothers her.

I asked the other girls, do they also feel this way and agree that this is an issue they would like to change at school?

Then I explained how decisions are made and what to do when there is a dilemma, by listening and speaking from the heart, how change can be made if people are interested in it, and what to do if not everyone is interested in making a change.

For example, how do you approach the school principal, how do you do it in collaboration, in dialogue?

In the last listening round, I asked what they came up with?

The girls said: cooperation, listening to each other, security, respect, communication, how to make change through listening and cooperation.

For an hour and a half of the circle, the students were without their phones and one of the girls said, "I was disconnected from my phone for an hour and a half and I didn't even feel it."

They expressed a desire to learn more. Therefore, it was decided, together with the director of the association, to begin a process of training for listening circles with the students, teaching them how to do the circle so that they could teach other students.
